DESCRIPTION:The integration of Sinergia programme into Project Funding bri
 ngs collaborative and interdisciplinary research together in the SNSF’s 
 largest funding scheme. The first call for proposals under the amended Pro
 ject Funding regulations has now been open.\n\nProject Funding can be requ
 ested by applicants who receive a salary from their home institution but w
 ho still need additional funds to carry out their research project. Resear
 ch conducted for directly commercial purposes will not be funded.\n\nWho c
 an apply: \nSNSF Projects can be held by one or more applicants. Each appl
 icant must individually meet the following requirements:\n\n	PhD obtained 
 at least 4 years prior to the application deadline or 3 years of research 
 work. This restriction does not apply to independent researchers who can a
 pply as soon as they get the said position.\n	All applicants must be in a 
 position to carry out research projects under their own responsibility and
  to lead project staff.\n	Applicants must be employed at least 50% at a re
 search institution for the duration of the project or have been given assu
 rance of such employment in writing.\n\nProject types eligible for the sub
 mission:\n\n\n	Single-applicant projects: Disciplinary OR Interdisciplinar
 y projects\n	Collaborative projects: Disciplinary OR Interdisciplinary pro
 jects\n\nFunding and duration: \nThe minimum funding is CHF 100’000 per 
 project. The maximum funding per project is limited to CHF 250’000 per y
 ear and applicant\, max. CHF 4 M over 4 years (for 4 or more applicants).\
 n\nApplicants can freely divide the grant among themselves. Foreign applic
 ants may not receive more than their mathematical share (1/n with n applic
 ants).\n\nThe grants are awarded for a min. of 1 year and a max. of 4 year
 s.\n\nEligible costs:\n\n\n	PhD students: max. 4 years after matriculation
  date\, max. possible requested annual gross salary after including the in
 flation rate is CHF 51'291\, max. 4 years + 16% social charges\, balance o
 f the salary must be covered by the host lab.\n	Postdocs: max. 5 years aft
 er their PhD defence\, max. 5 years actual salary + 16% social charges\, b
 alance must be covered by the host lab.\n	Other employees: actual salary +
  16% social charges\, balance must be covered by the host lab.\n	Equipment
 : The maximum chargeable costs for material of enduring value and equipmen
 t are now capped at CHF 100'000\, regardless of whether there is one\, or 
 several pieces of equipment\, or even several functional units. If co-fund
 ing (for total equipment costing more than 100K) is necessary\, please con
 tact pierre-yves.bolinger@epfl.ch at least 30 days before the deadline and
  enclose in the application a letter of support from the unit providing th
 e co-funding.\n	Expenses of third parties\, project partners and subcontra
 ctors: Project partners (partners must make a scientific contribution\, bu
 t are not responsible):Salaries of the project partners' employees are eli
 gible for funding.Subcontracting (buy-in of services\, often from companie
 s). Costs for project partners and subcontracting is max 20%.\n	Coordinati
 on costs can be requested if 3 or more applicants are involved in the rese
 arch project.\n	Costs for open access publications are NOT ELIGIBLE and mu
 st be requested separately.\n	Do NOT INCLUDE overheads in the budget. Plea
 se note: Overheads are transferred by the SNSF to the host institution of 
 the corresponding applicant as a lump sum for the handling of all their SN
 SF grants.\n\nSubmission:\nIn this call\, proposals will be submitted via 
 the SNSF Portal\; no longer via mySNF. For additional information about th
 e new submission platform refer to the EPFL Guide for the SNSF Portal. It 
 is highly recommended to take enough time to familiarize yourself with the
  portal and to enter the proposal.\n\nDeadline:\n2 October 2023 at 17:00 S
