DESCRIPTION:Alain Aspect\, prix Nobel de physique 2022\n«Des doutes d’E
instein et du théorème de Bell aux technologies quantiques: la seconde r
 évolution quantique» (conference in French)\nAlain Aspect\, Institut d'O
ptique - Université Paris-Saclay\n\n\n-- SOLD OUT --\nFYI this Campus Lec
ture will be recorded\, you will find the replay on this page after the ev
 ent.\n\nPresentation \nThanks to the mysterious concept of wave-particle d
uality\, the first quantum revolution made it possible to describe the str
ucture of matter\, its electrical\, mechanical and optical properties\, an
d its interaction with light. It then provided the technologies - transist
or\, laser\, integrated circuits - that led to the information and communi
cation society.\n\nThe second quantum revolution\, based on the notion of
entanglement\, is even more surprising in conceptual terms\, since it forc
es us to reject Einstein's cherished local realist vision of the world\, a
s demonstrated by the violation of Bell's inequalities. It also opens up f
ascinating prospects for applications\, with emerging technologies ranging
from quantum sensors to quantum communications and quantum computers. Wil
l these technologies bring about a new upheaval in society? Then we could
truly speak of a second quantum revolution!\n\n\nAbout Alain Aspect \nAlai
n Aspect is Director of Research Emeritus at the CNRS\, Professor at the l
'Institut d'Optique and the École Polytechnique\, and a member of the Aca
démie des Sciences. His doctoral research at the Institut d'Optique focus
ed on experimental tests of the foundations of quantum mechanics (Bell ine
quality tests)\, for which he was awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics
along with John Clauser and Anton Zeilinger.\n \n\nProgramme\n\n\n	16h30
