DESCRIPTION:Aim: BrightFocus provides research funds for U.S. and internat
 ional researchers pursuing pioneering research leading to greater understa
 nding\, prevention\, and treatment of glaucoma.\n\nThe standard award prov
 ides funding for researchers who have already generated some amount of pre
 liminary data\, but are often required to demonstrate additional\, signifi
 cant progress before they can apply to governmental or industrial funding 
 agencies. Applicants are encouraged to create tools that would benefit all
  investigators in the field\, including animal models of disease\, or cell
  lines.\n\nDuration: 2 years\n\nFunding: $200\,000\n\nEligibility: Tenure-
  and non-tenure-track positions are welcome to apply for funding if they a
 re appropriately trained to lead an independent research study\, and are p
 ermitted by their organizations to manage the grant and supervise any key 
 personnel. Applicants with pending appointments are eligible to apply\, bu
 t the appointment must be finalized by the start of the award.\n\nHow to A
