DESCRIPTION:Jennifer Lewis\nProfessor of Biologically Inspired Engineering
\nHarvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences\n“P
rinting Soft and Living Matter in Three Dimensions”\nJennifer Lewis\nPro
fessor of Biologically Inspired Engineering\nHarvard John A. Paulson Schoo
l of Engineering and Applied Sciences\n\nThe ability to pattern soft and l
iving matter in three dimensions is of critical importance for several eme
rging applications. In this talk\, Jennifer Lewis will begin by describing
the design of printable materials for direct and embedded 3D printing. Sh
e will then introduce representative functional and structural inks as wel
l as sophisticated printhead designs for fabricating soft objects ranging
from sensors and actuators to robotic matter. Finally\, Jennifer Lewis wil
l describe the recent efforts of her team to create vascularized human tis
sues through the tight integration of stem cell biology\, organoid buildin
g blocks\, and bioprinting. Though broadly applicable\, she will specifica
lly highlight their efforts to engineer human kidney and cardiac tissues a
cross multiple scales.\n\n\nAbout Jennifer Lewis\nJennifer A. Lewis is an
American materials scientist and engineer. She is known for her research o
n colloidal assembly of ceramics and 3D printing of biological materials.
Jennifer A. Lewis was elected as a member of the National Academy of Engin
eering in 2017.\n\n\nProgramme\n5:15 pm Doors open\n5:30 pm\nWelcome Addre
