CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim: The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) invites applications
for the third of three cycles for 18-month projects focused on advancing
tools and resources that make it possible to gain greater insights into he
alth and disease from single-cell biology datasets.\n\nGrantees will be ex
pected to interact with existing groups to build community and accelerate
progress. Applications are encouraged from computational experts outside t
he field of single-cell biology\, but with expertise relevant to overcomin
g current bottlenecks and driving discoveries in the single-cell biology f
ield. Projects may include: dedicated efforts to democratize access and us
ability of existing datasets\; demonstration of utility by leveraging exis
 ting datasets to address impactful and challenging biological questions\;
and developing methods that enable greater biological insight and other ma
jor challenges brought forward.\n\nFunding:       Focused projects*
 – max. $200\,000\n                        Expande
 d projects* – max. $400\,000\n\nDuration:      18 months\n\nEligibil
ity: Applications may be submitted by non-profit and for-profit organizati
 ons\, public and private institutions\, such as colleges\, universities\,
hospitals\, laboratories from all countries. Each application must have a
minimum of one PI (Coordinating PI)\, but may designate up to three total
PIs (one Coordinating PI and up to two Co-PIs). PIs and Co-PIs must each b
e permitted to receive grant support by the organization they are applying
with.\n\nEarly-career investigators are strongly encouraged to apply as C
oordinating PIs as well as Co-PIs.\n\nHow to Apply: The application consis
ts of the following sections (called tasks in the grants portal): Coordina
ting PI Details\, Organization Details for Coordinating PI\, Equal Opportu
 nity & Diversity\, Project Details\, Budget Description\, Biosketches\, an
d Optional Attachments. To complete the Organizational Details and obtain
the Institutional Approval Form\, contact the Research office.\n\n*Grants
will be awarded at two levels:\n\n	$200\,000 USD total costs for grants th
at primarily support the effort of one to two full-time employees (FTEs) w
orking on a given project.\n	$400\,000 USD total for networked grants that
will require the participation of two to four FTEs.\n	Funding is not inte
nded to support experimental data generation.\n	Indirect costs of 15% shou
ld be budgeted and included within the totals above.\n\n\nDeadline:
05 December 2023\n\nFurther information\n\n\n	Contact the Research Offi
ce for the institutional approval form.\n	More information about the progr
am is available here.\n	The application portal can be found here.\n\nFor a
ny other questions\, please contact the Research Office.
