 ested in pursuing a career in applied math\, computational science or dat
 a science\, but are unsure what these paths look like?\nHere it is the so
 lution! The EPFL SIAM Student Chapter organizes the SIAM Career Event\, a
  workshop in which three speakers from different industries with a backgro
 und in Mathematics will present their academic and their working experienc
 e\, and share useful insights (see the attached poster!). \n\nInvited spe
 akers:\n\nMatthew Wiener\, Executive Director at CSL Behring (Bern\, Swit
 zerland)\, obtained a B.S. in Mathematics from MIT in 1987 and a Ph.D. in 
 Mathematics from the University of Chicago in 1994. He has worked on mathe
 matical modeling and various quantitative aspects of the pharmaceutical in
 dustry for the past 25 years with a focus on early research and vaccine ma
 nufacturing. Companies Matthew Wiener has worked for include the Merck Res
 earch Laboratories (US)\, the MSD IT Center (Prague\, Czech Republic)\, an
 d BMS (Boudry\, Switzerland).\n\nJustina Ivanauskaite\, Director - Data Sc
 ience Lead at MSD (Prague\, Czech Republic)\, holds a B.S. in Econometrics
  from the Vilnius University and a M.S. in Econometrics from the Universit
 y of Amsterdam. She leads a team of data scientists in the sales animal he
 alth division. Justina Ivanauskaite and her team use machine learning\, op
 timization\, simulation\, and statistics to solve challenges in manufactur
 ing\, supply chain\, and research and development.\n\nRadu Popescu\, Softw
 are Architect at Logitech (Lausanne\, Switzerland)\, holds a Ph.D. in Appl
 ied Mathematics from EPFL. His work focuses on High Performance and Distr
 ibuted Computing. Previously he worked as a software engineer at CERN and 
 as a technical lead at ProtonMail (Geneva\, Switzerland).\n\nEach speaker 
 will deliver a 25 minute presentation after which there will be an intera
 ctive Q&A session.\n\nThe event will be followed by a networking apéro!!
