 will discuss the method of Chabauty and Coleman and its variations. The or
 iginal method is powerful for determining rational points on curves satisf
 ying a certain rank condition. Depending on this rank condition\, we also 
 discuss the other variations that we can use to determine rational (or mor
 e general) points. We pay special attention to the case when the rank cond
 ition is violated - in some cases\, we can use p-adic heights as an altern
 ative solution. We will also briefly explain how to compute p-adic heights
  on hyperelliptic curves and their application to the variant called quadr
 atic Chabauty.
