CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:The Drug Development call supports investigational new drug (I
ND)-enabling studies (or the international equivalent) and early-phase cli
nical trials that test promising pharmacological interventions and devices
for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and related dementias. Both disease-modify
ing and symptomatic agents will be considered.\n\nThis funding opportunity
prioritizes diverse drug mechanisms and modes of action related to the bi
ology of aging and other emerging therapeutic areas for dementia. For this
reason\, amyloid targeted approaches and cholinesterase inhibitor proposa
ls will not be considered for this call.\n\nSpecifically\, the Drug Develo
pment call supports the following stages of discovery:\n\n	Early-stage hum
an clinical trials \n	Investigational new drug (IND)–enabling studies\n\
n\nCurrent target areas of interest include:\n\n	Epigenetics\n	Inflammatio
 n\n	Mitochondria & metabolic function\n	Neuroprotection\n	Proteostasis\n	S
ynaptic activity and neurotransmitters\n	Vascular function\n	Other mechani
sms and modes of action related to the biology of aging (e.g. senescent ce
lls)\n	Other novel targets or pathways that are supported by compelling ev
idence demonstrating a rational biological connection to the disease proce
 ss\n	Anti-amyloid approaches (e.g.\, anti-amyloid aggregation\, beta-amylo
id vaccines\, beta- or gamma-secretase inhibitors) and cholinesterase inhi
bitor proposals will not be considered\n\n\nFunding:\nMax. $5\,000\,000 ba
sed on stage and scope of research\n\nDuration: Multi-year\n\nEligibility:
\nFunding is open to researchers and clinicians worldwide at academic medi
cal centers and universities or nonprofits.\n\nHow to Apply:\nDeadlines fo
r proposal submissions occur three times per year. Applications are review
ed in a two-step process: Letters of Intent (LOIs) are the first step\, an
d should be submitted on the ADDF Funding Portal. ADDF’s science team wi
ll evaluate LOIs to determine whether the proposed project is consistent w
ith the ADDF's mission and funding priorities. LOI decisions will be sent
within three weeks of submission. Step 2 is an invited full proposal\, whi
ch should include a detailed project narrative\, budget and justification\
, and biographical information.  When formulating the budget\, note that
the following costs are not covered: Indirect costs/Overhead\, Publication
  costs\, Equipment\, and Travel.\n\nWinter Deadlines:\n\n\n	05 February 20
 24 (LOI)\n	08 April 2024 (full proposal\, by invitation)\n\n\nSpring Deadl
 ines:\n\n\n	13 May 2024 (LOI)\n	22 July 2024 (full proposal\, by invitatio
 n)\n\n\nAutumn Deadlines:\n\n\n	30 September 2024 (LOI)\n	09 December 2024
  (full proposal\, by invitation)\n\n\nFurther information\n\n\n	More infor
mation about the program is available here\n	Detailed application instruct
ions are here\n	The application portal can be found here\n\nFor any other
questions\, please contact the Research Office
