CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:The aim of this call is to further develop and validate establ
ished biomarkers for which there is a clear clinical need in Alzheimer's d
isease and related dementias. This call prioritizes biomarkers with a defi
ned context of use\, a clear advantage over other relevant biomarkers\, an
 d a path to commercialization and/or clinical use.\n\nSpecifically\, this
call focuses on:\n\n	developing novel PET ligands for clinical use\n	suppo
rting novel CSF biomarkers\n	Validating innovative MRI approaches in large
r cohorts\n	Developing novel measures of functional activity such as EEG\n
 \n\nNovel biomarkers of neuroinflammation\, synaptic integrity\, autophagy
and TDP-43 are high priority. Other target areas of interest include:\n\n
\n	Neuronal loss\n	Vascular injury and blood-brain barrier integrity\n	Mit
ochondria and metabolic function\n	Protein misfolding\n	Oxidative stress\n
White matter changes\n	Lewy body dementia\n	Other novel targets supported
by compelling biological rationale and connection to disease\n\n\nFunding
 :  max. $600\,000\n\nDuration: 1 year\n\nEligibility:\nFunding is open to
researchers and clinicians worldwide at academic medical centers and univ
ersities or nonprofits.\n\nHow to Apply:\nDeadlines for proposal submissio
ns occur three times per year. Applications are reviewed in a two-step pro
cess: Letters of Intent (LOIs) are the first step\, and should be submitte
d on the ADDF Funding Portal. ADDF’s science team will evaluate LOIs to
determine whether the proposed project is consistent with the ADDF's missi
on and funding priorities. LOI decisions will be sent within three weeks o
f submission. Step 2 is an invited full proposal\, which should include a
detailed project narrative\, budget and justification\, and biographical i
nformation.  When formulating the budget\, note that the following costs
are not covered: Indirect costs/Overhead\, Publication costs\, Equipment\,
  and Travel.\n\nWinter Deadlines:\n\n\n	05 February 2024 (LOI)\n	08 April
 2024 (full proposal\, by invitation)\n\n\nSpring Deadlines:\n\n\n	13 May 2
 024 (LOI)\n	22 July 2024 (full proposal\, by invitation)\n\n\nAutumn Deadl
 ines:\n\n\n	30 September 2024 (LOI)\n	09 December 2024 (full proposal\, by
invitation\n\n\nFurther information\n\n\n	More information about the prog
ram is available here\n	Detailed application instructions are here\n	The a
pplication portal can be found here\n\nFor any other questions\, please co
