DESCRIPTION:The Parkinson’s Disease Therapeutics Pipeline Program advanc
es therapeutic development through pre-clinical and/or into clinical testi
ng of approaches addressing unmet needs of people with PD with clear poten
tial to prevent\, stop\, or delay disease progression or to reduce the bur
den of daily symptoms. As the requirements for delivering new treatments i
nto the market depend on specialized expertise and resources\, a unique go
al of this program is to promote clearer paths to commercialization and ma
rket access by the PD community. Therefore\, we are only accepting applica
tions from industry groups or academic teams working in collaboration with
a dedicated industry partner capable of further commercial development of
  a promising intervention.\n\nMJFF prioritizes pre-clinical and clinical p
rograms that may slow\, stop\, or prevent disease progression\, efforts th
at address moderate-to-advanced motor or non-motor symptoms of Parkinson
’s not well-managed by current treatments such as advanced gait disturba
nces (e.g.\, balance issues linked to falls\, freezing) and cognitive chan
ges.\n\nFor this program\, MJFF will not consider proposals focused on the
following:\n\n	Applications seeking to identify new intervention targets
 (e.g.\, large-scale screening or genomic/transcriptomic analyses).\n	Appli
cations seeking to validate a target with only tool compounds or biologica
l manipulations that have no viable path for further drug optimization and
development.\n	Applications seeking to test reformulation of commercially
available drugs via a new route of administration.\n	Application seeking
to assess efficacy of dietary supplements.\n\n\nFunding:\nFrom $250\,000 f
or smaller\, targeted programs to upwards of $2M for larger\, multi-stage
 preclinical and/or clinical programs\n\nDuration:\n1 to 2 years for pre-cl
inical programs\n2 to 3 years for clinical programs\n\nEligibility:\nAppli
cations may be submitted by researchers or clinicians in:\n\n	U.S. and non
-U.S. public and private non-profit entities\, such as universities\, coll
 eges\, hospitals\, laboratories\, units of state and local governments\, a
nd eligible agencies of the federal government in collaboration with biote
chnology/pharmaceutical/medical device companies\, or other publicly or pr
ivately held for-profit entities.\n	 \n	MJFF encourages the inclusion of
researchers who span career stages.\n	 \n	Early career investigators (wit
hin 1-7 years of first independent appointment or equivalent) are encourag
ed to apply and are permitted to serve as Principal Investigator (PI)\; Po
st-doctoral fellows are permitted to serve as Co-Principal Investigator (C
o-PI). Training and fellowship activities are not supported through this p
rogram.\n\n\nHow to Apply:\nThe two-stage application process begins with
an LOI\, which can be submitted on a rolling basis on the MJFF Grant Porta
 l. Instructions for pre-proposal submission vary if submitting a pre-clini
cal project or a clinical project. Selected applicants will be notified wi
thin three weeks and will be invited to submit a full proposal by one of t
he four deadlines (see below). Budgets should be formulated to include 15%
  OH.\n\nDeadlines (full proposals):\n\n\n	11 January 2024\n	14 March 2024\
 n	16 May 2024\n	27 June 2024\n\n\nFurther information\n\n\n	More informati
on about the program is available here and the full RFA is available here\
n	Application portal can be found here\n\nFor any other questions\, please
