DESCRIPTION:The Wellcome Trust has announced the Seeking Predictors of Vac
 cine Efficacy - Identifying Correlates of Protection to Support Vaccine De
 velopment call to support research teams to establish or validate correlat
 es of protection across 11 diseases with the potential to cause substantia
 l outbreaks or which have significant burden and have no licenced vaccines
 . The aim is to develop a range of reliable metrics to predict vaccine eff
 icacy to support effective vaccine development\, especially in low resourc
 e settings. This is a one-off funding call and is jointly funded by the Tr
 ust and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI).\n\nThi
 s call is divided into two strands\, depending on the disease pathogens st
 udied:\n\nPart A for bacterial/parasitic diseases\, or\nPart B for viral-r
 elated diseases\n\nFunding:       up to £ 3M\n\nDuration:     
  up to 3 years\n\nEligibility: Eligible administering organisations can be
 : higher education institutions\; research institutes\; not-for-profit or 
 government bodies\; and for-profit organisations. The host organisation of
  the lead applicant can be based anywhere in the world.\n\nThe research te
 am must:\n\n	Be led or co-led by an applicant hosted at an institution in 
 a country affected by one of the diseases in scope.\n	Demonstrate transdi
 sciplinary expertise in immunology\, vaccinology\, statistics and data ana
 lysis\, and experience of pre-clinical (where relevant) and clinical vacci
 ne development.\n	Include at least one applicant with expertise in biomark
 er discovery or validation to inform clinical go/no-go decisions (or licen
 sure applications).\n	Show expertise in monitoring vaccine-induced immune 
 responses.\n\n\n\nHow to Apply: As a first step\, a preliminary applicatio
 n should be submitted on the Wellcome Platform. If shortlisted\, Wellcome 
 will invite applicants to submit a full application within two months. The
