 all NRP 84 aimed at developing new plant trait combinations that confer gr
 eater resistance to pests and diseases or continued productivity in the fa
 ce of drought\, flooding or rising temperatures. The programme aimed to id
 entify and test new plant breeding technologies (NBTs)\, which involve tar
 geted mutagenesis\, DNA editing and cisgenic insertion of DNA constructs t
 hat do not lead to transgenic products\, and to evaluate their application
  from agronomic\, social\, ethics\, economic and regulatory perspectives i
 n Switzerland. \nApplicants should consult the first call document for rel
 evant background to NRP 84 and its aims in general.\n\n>>This 2nd call foc
 uses on the societal implications of such developments.\n\n\nexpected  du
 rations: 24 to 42 months\nexpected budgets: CHF 300'000 to 500'000 (Max to
 tal budget available CHF 2'000'000)\n\nSTRUCTURE:\nThe original NRP 84 cal
 l was structured around three modules:\n• Module 1: Technical feasibilit
 y of new breeding technologies\n• Module 2: Ethics\, society\, and econo
 mics: evaluating the ethics\, societal perceptions\, and economic potentia
 l of NBTs\n• Module 3: Regulatory considerations: evaluating the adequac
 y of the current regulatory framework and the need for legal innovation to
  enable NBT implementation\n\nThis second call is only for full proposals 
 in Module 2 and Module 3: Proposals for this second call will thus be acc
 epted from the humanities and social sciences (HSS)\,\nin fields including
  (but not restricted to) the applied ethics of innovation\, social science
 s\, science education\, anthropology\, history\, communication and media\,
  economics and law.\n\n\n\n \n\n
