DESCRIPTION:2023 Call for Proposals: Building Resilience against Systemic 
 Cyber Risk\n\nThe funder requires one application per institution\, theref
 ore an internal preselection for EPFL applications is implemented.\n\nPre-
 application timeline and process: \n- Institutional pre-selection deadline
 : 11 January 2024\, 5 pm\n- Send 300 words abstract and CV to research@epf
 l.ch\, with 'Swiss Re-Axa Cyber Risk application' as title.\n- Abstract st
 ructure:\n\n	Overview of the objectives of the proposal\, how they will be
  achieved\, and their relevance to the Call.\n	Potential outputs and relev
 ance for academia\, society and private sectors.\n	Assets brought by acade
 mic institutions and associated partners.\n\nScope:  Applications should 
 contribute to increasing our understanding of economic resilience against 
 cyber catastrophes. Resilience being understood as being less vulnerable b
 y design\; reducing negative impact and recovering swiftly from cyber cata
 strophes. The results of the work need to improve our understanding of whe
 re our economy and businesses are most / least resilient against certain s
 cenarios\, how could we measure resilience (e.g. stress testing)\, where a
 dditional / different resilience levels may have the largest positive impa
 ct\, and what means may be adequate to achieve such additional / different
  levels of resilience.  Applicants are free to choose research methods th
 ey deem fit to approach the selected aspects. Given the wide array of poss
 ible themes\, a focus on selected scenarios\, industries\, regions\, or te
 chnologies is appreciated.\n\nDuration\, amount\, IP conditions:\n\n\n	9-1
 8 months\n	max funding per project 150’000 €.\n	AXA or Swiss Re will n
 ot claim any right to the ownership or use of the results.\n\nTarget : Aca
 demic institutions are the only eligible direct beneficiaries which may re
 ceive funding under this call.  Funding recipients need to be academic in
 stitutions which can either apply: \n\n\n	as  Sole Applicant (one academ
 ic institution): The grant aims at supporting promising researchers or res
 earch groups. Project Proposals must always be led by ONE Principal Invest
 igator who is nominated by the institution leading the application process
 . The Principal Investigator (PI)\, nominated by an institution\, should b
 e of the highest caliber and have demonstrated outstanding research achiev
 ements\, as evidenced by the usual indicators for assessing academic excel
 lence such as research outputs\, research and research impact. The PI need
 s to be affiliated with an academic institution that has nominated him to 
 be the Principal Investigator of the Project. It is required that the PI b
 rings together a strong team demonstrating expertise and ability to comple
 te the tasks of the proposed project with the best quality. Ideally\, the 
 team shall be composed of promising early career researchers\, as well as 
 would reflect the principle of diversity (gender and geography).\n	as a Co
 nsortium Applicant\, (collaboration amongst two or more academic instituti
 ons): The requirement and recommended qualification of the Team Lead of th
 e Project Coordinator (PC\, the lead university) are identical to those of
  the Sole Applicant. In addition\, the PC team needs to ensure that all pa
 rtner  institutions are chosen based on the best possible match of requir
 ed expertise\, skills\, availability\, and cost-benefit analysis. The PC r
 emains the main contact between the consortium and the contacts of the Par
 tnership. The institution nominating the PC will represent the consortium 
 as the signee of the contract and will receive the related funding.\n\nPre
 -selected EPFL applicants will be invited to submit a full application.\nF

 m\, Paris time\n	Start of awarded project: September- November 2024\n	Full

 tion form (see template here)\n- short CV (2 pages) of the prospective PI 
 (+ link to detailed CV)\n- short CVs of potential project team members (2 
 paragraphs each)\n- list of the top 5 publications\n- list of the most rec
