CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim: The Charles Defforey Foundation was established to encour
age research in scientific\, humanitarian and cultural fields. It provides
a range of annual prizes and occasional grants in collaboration with the
Academies of the Institut de France. The Fondation Charles Defforey/Instit
ut de France Scientific Grand Prize is awarded annually to provide financi
 al support to a high-level research project on a specified theme.\n\nFor t
he 2024 Prize\, the specified theme is ‘Dynamic systems and geometric fl
ows’. Geometric flows are a powerful tool for studying non-linear partia
l differential equations arising from geometry. Introduced by Hamilton\, t
he Ricci flow was used by Perelman in his spectacular proof of the Poincar
é conjecture. The aim of the prize is to encourage outstanding research i
n the analysis of geometric evolution equations and their applications\, i
n as broad sense as possible\, combined\, if necessary\, with other mathem
 atical techniques.\n\nDuration:      not communicated\n\nFunding:
EUR 400\,000\nThe financial aid provided by the Prize could be us
ed for operating costs such as consumables\, equipment\, travel expenses a
nd cost of publications. It cannot be used for salaries.\n\n\nEligibility:
Open to international candidates\n\nHow to Apply: Applications (form
here) should be sent via e-mail at prix@institutdefrance.fr as well as by
regular mail at the following address:  Fondation Charles Defforey-Insti
 tut de France\, 23 quai de Conti\, 75006 Paris\, France.\n\nDeadline:
28 February 2024\n\nFurther information\n\n	More information about th
e call is available here\n	The application form can be found here\n\nFor a
