DESCRIPTION:Cancer susceptibility of individuals of different sex is signi
ficantly different in many cancer types and across ethnic backgrounds. The
role of hormonal and genetic  differences in in cancer susceptibility
and response to treatment is still poorly understood. To meet this challen
ge\, there is an urgent need to foster interdisciplinary cross-communicati
on efforts and train the next generation of researchers in basic and trans
lational cancer prevention.\n\nThis Innovative Training Network (2019-2023
) aimed to establish an interdisciplinary PhD program in cancer prevention
focused on two key determinants of cancer risk: \n\n	sex hormone signali
ng and\n	chronic inflammation\n\nResearchers from the network have worked
effortlessly the last few years to achieve these goals. They uncovered ho
w exogenous factors and genetic influences affect cancer susceptibility\,
assessed novel chemoprevention approaches by using chemically-developed ho
rmone and inflammation inhibitors\, and conducted mechanistic studies to e
xploit innovative preclinical models developed by the participating labs.\
n\nNow that the network is coming to an end\, we will celebrate its compl
etion with a two-day symposium entitled “Perspectives in cancer preven
tion: A look into the future”. It will bring together and foster communi
cation between young researchers and world experts from various discipline
s\, such as epidemiology\, genetics and epigenetics\, cellular and molecul
ar biology\, and pharmacology.  As an integral part of the meeting\, we e
ncourage participation from members of the private industry sector\, who c
an provide unique insights into translational applications and possible fu
ture developments. \n \n\nMeeting format\nThe meeting takes place in the
AGORA Cancer Research Center\, Lausanne Switzerland. It will be held o
ver two full days\, Monday February 5th and Tuesday February 6th\, 2024.\n
\nGeneral meeting sessions \nLonger talks by invited speakers (40 minutes
) are followed by or intermingled with pre-registered shorter talks (15 mi
nutes) by participants\, selected from submitted abstracts. \n\nClick her
e for the main sessions and speakers.\nClick here for the full program.\n\
nAbstract submission deadline: January 12th 2024\nRegistration deadline: J
