DESCRIPTION:The Prostate Cancer  Foundation champions investment in human
capital to fast-forward solutions for prostate cancer with the ultimate g
oal of ending death and suffering from metastatic prostate cancer.  We co
ntinue to focus significant efforts  on developing gifted cohorts of youn
g  prostate cancer researchers.  We are pleased to announce a new round
of funding for PCF Young Investigators. We especially encourage young inve
stigators working on prostate cancer health disparities to apply.\n\nPCF s
eeks applications from the global biomedical research community. Applicant
s traditionally under-represented in science and medicine are highly encou
raged. We seek applications from early-career basic scientists\, medical o
 ncologists\,  pathologists\, urologists\, radiologists radiation  oncolo
 gists\, public health experts\,  bioinformaticians\, bioengineers\, or pr
ofessionals from any other field that could contribute to the end of prost
ate cancer.  Applicants may be working in basic\,  translational\, compu
tational or clinical  research and need not be trained  specifically in
prostate cancer research to be highly competitive.\n\nResearch proposals s
ubmitted in consideration for this award should\,  if successful\, provid
e high impact to the field. “Small-step” or incremental proposals are
usually non-competitive.  Highly innovative basic science programs will b
e carefully considered\, but priority will be given to “bench to bedside
” translational research proposals with the potential to deliver near te
 rm benefit to patients.\n\nFunding:       $75’000 / year\n\nDuratio
 n:      36 months\n\nEligibility: Applicant should be within six-year
s following completion of a professional degree (MD\, PhD\, or equivalent)
or subsequent mentored academic or clinical training program.  Applicant
must hold the title of Postdoctoral Fellow\, Instructor\, Research Associ
ate\, Assistant Professor or equivalent. Applicant must be under the direc
t supervision of a mentor(s). At least one mentor at the applicant’s ins
titution is required. The Applicant should not have been granted commitmen
ts for more than $1M in direct research funding from all sources including
institutional funds at the time of this application.\n\nHow to Apply: The
application process begins with registration on the PCF research manageme
nt system. Application materials must include: a scientific abstract\, a t
 hree-year research proposal\, a letter of support from the mentor\, a lett
er of support from the department\, a mentorship plan\, and an NIH-style b
