DESCRIPTION:Prof. Kenan Zhang\nDate: 5 June 2024\nTime: 17:15 – 19:00\nI
ntroductions by the Dean\, lectures by Prof. Sophie Delhay and Prof. Kenan
Zhang. Followed by an Apero.\nPlace: CO2\nZoom link: https://epfl.zoom.

the urban transportation landscape with mobility services\n\nAbstract\nTh
e urban transportation system is undergoing a transformative revolution\,
driven by various emerging mobility services. These novel mobility solutio
ns not only challenge classic transportation models but also motivate the
research at HOMES. In this lecture\, I will use our several recent studies
to elaborate on how emerging mobility services have reshaped transportati
on research from both modeling and methodological perspectives. The lectur
 e will begin with a discussion on ride-hailing and ride-sharing services\,
then delve into their interaction with general urban traffic networks\, a
nd finally conclude with a vision of a service-based urban mobility system
.\n\nAbout the speaker\nKenan Zhang joined ENAC as an assistant professor
in September 2023 and leads the Human-Oriented Mobility Ecosystem (HOMES)
Laboratory. Her research centers at the mathematical modeling\, optimizati
on and operations management of urban transportation systems\, with specia
l focus on emerging mobility services and technologies. She received her P
hD in Transportation Engineering from Northwestern University\, and before
joining EPFL\, she was a postdoctoral research at ETH Zurich. She was awa
rded the CEE Rising Star (2020) and COTA Best Dissertation Award (2023).\n
