DESCRIPTION:Gilles Dubochet\, Nicole Will\, Fabian Felder\, Esther Räth\,
Philip Mair\, Edward Andò\, Noémie Mazaré\nCome and discuss the future
of Open Science trainings on campus in this new edition of EPFL Shapes Op
en Science: training the next generation of scientists.\n\nAs the momentum
behind Open Science continues to surge\, it's imperative for researchers
to acquire the necessary skills to disseminate their findings globally and
foster effective collaboration. Whether it's good practices in Open Sourc
e Software for computational scientists or embracing Open Research Data an
d methods in experimental sciences\, proficiency in Open Science is crucia
l across all fields. At the heart of this transformation lies the imperati
ve to train the next generation of scientists\, who will shape the future
of academia.\n\nFrom library training courses to dynamic student-led summe
r schools and the integration of OS principles into disciplinary courses\,
myriad pathways exist for spreading the essential skills needed for young
researchers to flourish in an Open Science ecosystem.\n\nYet\, despite th
e plethora of resources available\, they often remain scattered and lackin
g in visibility. This begs the question: What is the most effective approa
ch to ensuring widespread adoption of OS practices on campus?\n\nThis inte
ractive roundtable event will discuss the different needs across campus an
d ways we could bridge those gaps\, for a more sustainable future in resea
rch.\n\nProgramme:\n\nIntroduction by Gilles Dubochet\, Head of Open Scien
ce\n\nShort presentation by Nicole Will\, former head of Education Support
at the TU Delft Library and currently head of Inholland university for Ap
plied Sciences' Library\, who will share her experience in developing and
coordinating Open Science training in the Netherlands.\n\nPanel discussion
\, moderated by Mirko Bischofberger\, with:\n- Esther Räth\, EPFL PhD stu
dent and co-organizer of Open Science Summer School\n- Fabian Felder\, ETH
domain ORD programme training coordinator\n- Philip Mair\, Head of Doctor
al School Programme (EDOC)\n- Edward Andò\, Head of Image Analysis at the
EPFL Center for Imaging\n- Noémie Mazaré\, scientific advisor\, EPFL Op
en Science office\n\nConclusion by Gilles Dubochet\n\nJoin us and share yo
 ur thoughts!
