DESCRIPTION:Stefaan De Wolf : professor at the King Abdullah University of
Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia.\nPerovskite solar cells h
ave demonstrated in the last 15 years particular promise to combine high p
erformance with low-cost manufacturing. However\, long-term operational st
ability remains a significant concern for the commercialization of any per
ovskite-based technology. In this presentation I will discuss how through
molecular interface engineering and the creation of thin two-dimensional p
erovskites at the contact interfaces\, both performance and stability unde
r a variety of accelerated stress tests can be enhanced\, for perovskite s
olar cells in their single-junction implementation\, but also when used as
a top-cell in tandem with a silicon bottom cell. Such interface engineeri
ng has recently led to a certified power conversion efficiency of 33.7% fo
r a monolithic perovskite/silicon tandem solar cell. I will conclude my ta
lk with outlining paths to even higher performance such as through triple-
junction and bifacial tandem photovoltaics.\n\nStefaan De Wolf is a profes
sor at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in S
audi Arabia\, where he focuses on high-efficiency silicon and perovskite s
olar cells\, their combinations in tandem solar cells\, reliability aspect
s\, as well as photovoltaics for harsh climates. He is Clarivate Highly Ci
 ted Researcher since 2019.
