 \nEvery two years\, the Federation of Swiss Architects FSA awards a single
  research grant\, resulting in a publication and a travelling exhibition s
 upported by the Architectural Council of Switzerland.\n\nIn his project\, 
 Lukas Ingold\, recipient of the sixth FSA research grant\, explores the di
 verse processing methods for wood and their potential for architecture. Th
 e use of high-performance building materials such as moulded plywood opens
  up many new design possibilities\, particularly with regard to environmen
 tal architecture. The research focuses on architectural issues as well as 
 historical\, ecological\, economic\, technical\, and cultural consideratio
 ns. It thereby establishes an alternative perspective on building with woo
