DESCRIPTION:The Swiss Foundation for Alcohol Research (SFAR)\n\nfunds proj
ects that promise to deliver new insights in the general field of alcohol
research\n\n	awards funding for scientific conferences\n	actively encourag
es research on neglected fields\n	awards grants to promote talented young
researchers\n\nPriority is given to applications that have practical relev
ance for Swiss public health in addition to their scientific value.\n\nThe
Foundation Board is made up of representatives from the Federal Office of
Public Health\, the Swiss Alcohol Board\, the Federal Commission for Alco
hol-Related Issues\, Addiction Switzerland and experts from various scient
 ific disciplines\, e.g. medicine\, psychology\, biology and sociology.\n\n
The Foundation offers the following funding instruments:\n\n\n	Grants to r
esearchers to conduct scientific studies (max. CHF 50K\, one year\, latest
possible starting date on 01 July 2026). Note that for applications that
use animal experiments\, the relation to human biology must be explicitly
demonstrated. Basic research using only animal experiments will not be con
sidered for funding.\n	Grants to university graduates (SNSF rates for 1 ye
ar). Grants are awarded to university graduates\, usually up to 35 years o
ld\, provided their post-graduate study involves generating knowledge that
can conceivably be used in future alcohol research.\n	Funding for scienti
fic conferences\, particularly coordination meetings (max. CHF 5-10K). Fu
nding can be awarded to conferences provided alcohol research is a central
theme of the conference and it has a link to Switzerland. The application
must state the specific purpose of the SFAR funding at the conference. Th
e Foundation does not provide deficiency guarantees for conferences.\n\n\n
