DESCRIPTION:The 2026 SNIS call will focus on ‘Re-thinking Multilateralis
 m’  to help address the current adaptation challenges facing the Inter
 national Geneva ecosystem.\n\nThe Swiss Network for International studies 
 (SNIS) provides funding for trans-disciplinary projects that connect scien
 ce with International Organisations and NGOs to produce policy relevant re
 sults.\n\nNew requirements in this call: \n\n	Partnership(s) with Interna
 tional Organisations / NGOs are required: Proposals must include an endors
 ement letter from an IO / NGO and have at least one IO / NGO member in the
  research team.\n	Eligible research domains are: Governance\, security\, d
 igital transformation\, trade\, inequalities\, migration\, international l
 aw & human rights\, health\, climate change\, sustainability. Projects mu
 st be pluri-disciplinary. Natural science–led proposals will only be co
 nsidered if they demonstrate a substantive social-science component and in
 clude at least one social-science researcher on the team. \n	The project 
 envelope now contains a 7% provision for an impact phase which can last up
  to 6 months after the 2-year academic project limit.\n\nCore (unchanged) 
 features : \n\n\n	Duration: Two years\n	Funding: from CHF 100’000 to 
 300’000 for 24 months (including 7% reserved for impact phase)\n	\n		NOT
  a personal career grant\, i.e. one cannot attribute more than 50% of the 
 funding envelope to one person\n		No overheads\, but 3% of the funding env
 elope available for the PI's discretionary research fund\n	\n	\n	Co-fundin
 g (in-kind and monetary): Must amount to at least 25% and no more than 10
 0% of requested funds.\n	Who can apply: The project Coordinator and Co-co
 ordinator can be professors or post-docs\, employed at least at 40% for wo
 rk unrelated to the project at a Swiss Higher Education Institution for th
 e duration of the project. The applicant cannot hold a SNIS grant at the t
 ime of the submission of the pre-proposal. All coordinators must contact r
 esearch@epfl.ch to obtain an institutional letter of support.\n	How to app
 ly: Two-round submission process (see timeline further down). Check the 
 insights from members of the SNIS scientific committee for a successful pr
 oposal.\n\n\nEligible costs\n\n\n	Salaries for research personnel:\n	\n		
  If the coordinator or the co-coordinator is a faculty member without a f
 ull-time contract\, SNIS will fund up to a 50% of a full-time position for
  the coordinator.\n		PhD students’ salary (following SNSF salary scale)
  with a minimum of 60% of their time dedicated to the SNIS project. All o
 ther personnel covered by this grant must be employed at least 50% FTE. \
 n	\n	\n	Field costs (including travel\, data access) \n	Costs associated 
 with the organisation of workshops  \n	Discretionary fund (max 3% of requ
 ested amount)\n	Impact fund (7% of requested amount).\n\nNon eligible cost
 s\n\n\n	Infrastructure (e.g room rental)\n	Auxiliary staff (not related to
  project\; exception: student help for organisation of final workshop)\n	E
 quipment (e.g. computers\, lab equipment)\n	Third party services (e.g. com
