DESCRIPTION:Moderation by: Jamie Paik\, Alain Kaufmann\, Frederic Kaplan\,
Gabriela Tejada and Claire Arnold\nThis event presents CROSS projects of
the last three years (themes: 2022 “Responsible innovation”\, 2023 “
Crisis”\, and 2024 “Open theme”). Grantees will present and discuss
their research results and experiences with members of the CROSS scientif
ic committee and the public\, based on three aspects:\n\n	Interdisciplinar
y collaboration (synergy and integration\, challenges and learning\, advan
cing interdisciplinary knowledge)\n	Social impact (relevance and reach\, e
ngagement with society\, long-term impact)\n	Perspectives and future direc
tions (future research and development\, broader implications and trends\,
reflections on responsible innovation)\n\nThe usefulness and effectivenes
s of CROSS funding\, as well as its operational form\, will be addressed i
n view to the 2026 Call for projects next spring.\n\nThe EPFL-UNIL Collabo
rative Research on Science and Society (CROSS) Program encourages interdis
ciplinary projects that deal with current issues in society and technology
\, associating specialists in the human and social sciences on the one han
d\, with specialists in the life sciences\, natural sciences or engineerin
g on the other. Through an annual call for projects\, CROSS provides compe
titive grants (up to CHF 60’000 per project) to support new seed researc
h endeavors that have the potential to grow into full-scale interdisciplin
ary research projects\, with a view to obtaining major funding.\n\nThe eve
nt is open to EPFL and UNIL communities. \nAn apero will be offered to all
participants at the end.\n\n> Registration is mandatory (deadline: Thursd
 ay\, 5 December\, 10pm.)\n\nDon't miss the opportunity to get first-hand i
nformation about the CROSS research program!
