DESCRIPTION:Dr Yirui Zhang\nElectrification-driven processes are key to su
stainable energy and environmental monitoring\, requiring a deep understan
ding of the electrode-electrolyte interface where molecular interactions d
ictate device efficiency and lifetime. In this talk\, I will discuss how d
eveloping in situ Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy reveals electrol
yte oxidation pathways to design stable Li-ion batteries and how interfaci
al hydrogen bonds influence electrocatalysis. Further\, I will demonstrate
a coupled ion-electron transfer mechanism governing Li-ion intercalation
 kinetics. Finally\, beyond energy storage\, I develop plasmon-enhanced Ram
an scattering with machine learning and electrokinetics to identify bacter
ia in wastewater. These approaches provide design principles for next-gene
 ration batteries\, electrocatalysis\, and biosensing systems.\n
