DESCRIPTION:Michiel Dehaene\; Chiara Tornaghi\nAGROECOLOGICAL URBANISM\nAg
roecological Urbanism foregrounds an innovative and radical perspective on
food planning\, positioning food as a central element in reshaping urbani
sm to promote more just social arrangements and ecological practices. \nB
uilding on state-of-the-art and participatory research on farming\, urbani
sm\, food policy and advocacy in the field of food system transformation\,
Michiel Dehaene and Chiara Tornaghi change the way food planning has been
conceptualised to date. They argue for moving from a ‘food-in-the-city
’ approach to an ‘urbanism’ perspective\, unpacking the economic and
spatial processes driving urbanization\, and proposing strategies to tran
sform these processes into more equitable and just ones.\n\nOrganized in t
he framework of the MAS in Urban and Territorial Design\, the Urban and E
nvironmental Theory Sessions see guests address the theme of the semester:
  “Counter-projects / Counter-spaces”. The sessions\, offering a combin
ation of theoretical positions and professional design experience\, addres
s the challenges of spatial\, social\, and energy transition through va
rious contributions: from human geography\, urban studies\, spatial design
\, environmental studies\, and system thinking.
