 )\n\nAbstract:\nCryo-electron microscopy\, cryo-electron tomography and c
 omputational image processing can be combined to determine the structure
 s of proteins within complex environments like cells and irregular viruse
 s. We are applying these techniques to understand how proteins interact w
 ith one another and with lipids to assemble enveloped viruses and coated 
 vesicles\, and to understand how the proteins then rearrange to adapt th
 eir functions at different stages of the virus or vesicle lifecycle. I wi
 ll illustrate recent work where we have determined structures of protein
 s to high-resolution in-situ\, with a particular focus on the biology of
