DESCRIPTION:Christopher Tremblay\, Alain Borel\nAbstract: This workshop p
rovides a short introduction to research data management (RDM)\, covering
the essential practices to organize\, safeguard\, and share your data. We
will first discuss the differences between storage\, backup\, and archivin
g\, highlighting EPFL’s solutions to host your projects\, prevent data l
oss and ensure long-term data preservation. We will explore the possible w
ays to document your data and code effectively for improved reproducibilit
 y and collaboration\, including metadata\, file organization\, naming conv
entions\, and others. Finally\, we will address data and code publication
in agreement with the FAIR principles. We will examine data repositories\,
the current standard platforms for this purpose\, with a focus on CERN’
s Zenodo - the most frequent choice at EPFL. We will discuss some legal as
pects of data and code publications\, i.e. personal data protection and in
tellectual property.\nJoin us to enhance your data management skills and g
et tips that will help you maximize the impact of your research data.\n\nB
io: Christopher Tremblay obtained his master’s degree in life sciences
at EPFL. After graduation\, he worked for a start-up before moving back to
EPFL as a member of the SV-IT team\, notably supporting the SLIMS laborat

Management team at EPFL Library.\nAlain Borel obtained a diploma and a Ph
D in chemistry at the University of Lausanne\, followed by post-doctoral j
obs at the University of Illinois and EPFL. He became head of the chemistr
