 ghs measure only a few nanometers in size\, the constant quest is to produ
 ce chips that are smaller\, faster\, more effective and less expensive. On
 e of the major high-tech players leading the quest is ASML\, a manufacture
 r of lithography systems for producing computer chips. You might think of 
 ASML as a hardware company\, but we actually have a large software and com
 puting community that are an integral part of our success. In this talk\, 
 I will take you through ASML's organization and give you an idea of the ex
 treme engineering that is taking place. I highlight several questions open
  for academic collaboration that can help to improve our systems\, one nan
 ometer at a time.
