DESCRIPTION:The FreeNovation program\, sponsored by the Novartis Research 
 Foundation\, provides funding for innovative and unconventional biomedical
  research projects. It aims to support bold ideas that are unlikely to sec
 ure funding from conventional sources.\n\n\n2025 Focus Areas:\n\n1. Glycob
 iology: Understanding glycan structure\, biosynthesis\, and their link to 
 diseases such as autoimmune disorders\, cancer\, and neurodegeneration.\n2
 . Therapeutic Epigenetics: Developing targeted epigenetic therapies and ad
 dressing resistance mechanisms and long-term effects.\n3. In Vivo Biology:
  Exploring physiological responses and interactions at the whole-organism 
 level to understand disease mechanisms and therapeutic impacts.\n\n\nFundi
 ng Details:\n\n- Up to 12 projects funded\, each receiving a maximum of CH
 F 220\,000.\n- Duration: 18 months.\n\n\nEligibility:\n\n- Researchers wit
 h a doctorate or equivalent\, employed by a Swiss institution (university\
 , hospital\, or healthcare-related organization).\n- The project must be u
 nrelated to any commercial interests or affiliations with Novartis.\n\n\nK
 ey Features:\n\n- Anonymized Selection: Focuses solely on the originality 
 and potential of the proposal.\n- Non-commercial: Research outputs must be
  published freely\, without patent restrictions.\n- Risk-taking Encouraged
 : Preliminary results are not required\; unorthodox ideas are prioritized.

  Background\, hypotheses\, aims\, and proposed experiments (400 words each
 ).\n  - One-slide visual summary.\nSelection Criteria:\n- Originality: Po
