DESCRIPTION:Curation: Prof. Marc Troyanov (EPFL MATH)\, Prof. Hugo Parlie
r (uni.lu\, Unifr) et Prof. Michael Herbst (EPFL MATH\, IMX)\nThe exhibiti
on Shapes: Patterns in Art and Science explores the richness of the natu
ral and artificial patterns that surround us. Bringing together art\, math
ematics\, materials science and biology\, it highlights the shared fascina
tion of scientists and artists with geometric\, dynamic and symmetrical st
ructures.\n\n\nUnderstand the world\, tell its story\, observing and explo
ring its structures is fundamental to both artists and scientists\, while
organising and classifying them lies at the core of mathematics. Closely l
inked to current scientific research\, the exhibition invites the public t
o discover and explore simple\, repetitive patterns which reveal rich and
aesthetically pleasing structures\, often unsuspected.\n\nTo complete this
panorama of shapes\, the exhibition brings together works by contemporary
artists inspired by mathematics\, along the emblematic works of Dutch art
ist M.C. Escher. Aimed at a wide audience\, Shapes encourages people to
 interact\, discover and express themselves.\n\n \n\n	Events\n\nSaturday G
