DESCRIPTION:Tamas Hausel (ISTA)\nIn the first part we will introduce the i
 dea of big algebras in a colloquium-style. We will discuss various appear
 ances of spectra across physics and mathematics.\n\n \n\nIn the second pa
 rt we discuss big algebras\, which are maximal commutative subalgebras of 
 the Kirillov algebra attached to irreducible representations of a complex
  semisimple Lie group. In this talk we will visualize the anatomy of big a
 lgebras\, in terms of skeletons and nerves. We show that it encodes sophi
 sticated information of the representation\, such as a ring structure on m
 ultiplicity spaces\, the weight diagram and the crystal structure.
