DESCRIPTION:Prof. Atac Imamoglu\, ETHZ. Full Professor at the Department
of Physics. Deputy head of Institute for Quantum Electronics\nMoire superl
attices in two dimensional semiconductors have enabled the observation of
a wealth of phenomena driven by strong electronic correlations\, ranging f
rom Mott-Wigner states to quantum anomalous Hall effect. In this talk\, I
will describe two recent experiments: the first experiment provides direct
evidence for itinerant magnetism with a kinetic origin in topologically t
rivial moire bands. The second experiments demonstrates optical orientatio
n of topological order in fractionally filled moire Chern bands.
