 on of interest form to the Research Office by July 20 2026\nOur institutio
 n coordinates submissions because the funder limits the number of applicat
 ions per institution.\n \nThematic Focus: Institutional Research Capacity
  Strengthening (IRCS) Projects in low- and middle-income\ncountries (LMICs
 )\nStrengthening the capacity of research departments in universities and 
 research institutions to fund\, manage and sustain themselves and their ow
 n research. These research capacities must be established/strengthened in 
 a long-lasting manner\, enabling them to be perpetuated independently afte
 r the end of the project\n\n\nWho Can Apply\nThe general exclusion criteri
 a and fundamental criteria for funding by Velux Stiftung apply. Please rea
 d carefully the criteria. \nTo be eligible the applicants should also demo
 nstrate the following\n\n	Every institution applying for funding must have
  all legal rights to receive international funding and should provide the 
 relevant justification (e.g. Indian institutions must submit a copy of the
 ir current FCRA approval).\n	All involved institutions must act not-for-pr
 ofit and should provide a justification of their tax-exemption.\n\n• The
  PI institution needs to be an academic research institution.\n\n\n	Each 
  organisation can submit a maximum of two applications per call (in the r
 ole of PI or co-PI). If this limit is exceeded\, all applications from tha
 t institution will be excluded.\n\n	\n		Therefore\, PIs must contact their
  institution’s Grants Office early to coordinate and confirm eligibility
 .\n	\n	\n	Important:\n	EPFL  has a centralized submission coordination pr
 ocess for this funding call to ensure compliance with eligibility limits a
 nd to avoid duplicate applications and also to emit the institutional lett
 er needed for the submission.\n	If you are interested in submitting a prop
 osal\, you must submit the Expression of interest form to the Research Off
 ice by July 20 2026\n	An applicant (as PI) can have a maximum of two runni
 ng grants\n	Applicants must ensure compliance with internal approval proce
 sses and provide necessary documentation\n\n\nDuration\n\n\n	Projects may 
 last from 1 to 4 years.\n\n\n \nFunding\n\n\n	At least 50 % of the budget
  is used for the LMIC partner institution(s).\n	At least 40 % of the budge
 t is used for IRCS activities (including relevant salaries).\n	General bud
 get range: Up to max. USD 300’000 for projects of 1 to 4 years.\n	Eligib
 le budget categories include:\n	\n		Salaries (including university fees fo
 r students based in LMICs).\n		Consumables (not more than 20% of the total
  amount\, exceptions must be justified).\n		Equipment.\n		Knowledge transf
 er (travel\, conference participation\, workshop organization).\n		Other c
 osts related to research capacity building.\n		Overhead is not Eligible \n
