CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the 2025 Melanoma R
esearch Program (MRP). Several award programs are available:\n\n	The Focus
ed Program Award - Rare Melanomas is intended to support a multidisciplina
ry research program of at least two\, but not more than three\, distinct b
ut complementary projects addressing an overarching question relevant to r
are melanomas. Applications for the FPA-RM may propose projects across the
entire research spectrum (biology\, etiology\, prevention\, diagnosis and
detection\, prognosis\, treatment\, and quality of life) and must address
a critical unmet need relevant to rare melanomas.\n	The Idea Award aims t
o generate novel research avenues for investigation\; therefore\, novelty
and innovation should be key aspects of the proposed project. Research sup
ported by the Idea Award must introduce a new paradigm\, challenge existin
g paradigms\, look at existing problems from new perspectives\, or exhibit
other highly creative qualities. The proposed project must be exploratory
\, hypothesis-driven\, or hypothesisgenerating research and be based on a
well-developed study design and plan of analysis. PIs new to the melanoma
field are encouraged to apply. All applications must specifically address
at least one of the Focus Areas listed in this document.\n	The Survivorshi
p Research Award is intended to address the relatively new and underfunded
area of melanoma-specific survivorship by supporting a broad range of inn
ovative and impactful research that has the intended outcome of improving
the health and well-being of melanoma survivors\, their families\, and/or
their caregivers (Figure 1). Applications may propose development of evide
nce-based practices\, behavioral health science and survivor and/or caregi
 ver well-being interventions and surveillance\, and/or identification of p
sychosocial survivor outcomes. Clinical trials are allowed.\n	Team Science
Award is intended to bring together investigators from divergent discipli
nes to achieve innovations and advancements in melanoma research and/or pa
tient care that could not be achieved by any one investigator working inde
pendently. While basic research is allowed\, all applications are expected
to articulate the short- and long-term benefits of the expected research
outcomes for the melanoma patient community. All applications must specifi
cally address at least one of the Focus Areas listed in this document.\n\n

anizations or institutions are eligible to apply\, and there are no citize
nship restrictions. Independent investigators at all career levels are eli
gible.\n\nHow to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted through the eBRAP p
