CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the 2025 Rare Cance
rs Research Program (RCRP) Awards. Several award programs are available:\n
\n	The Concept Award supports highly innovative\, untested\, potentially g
roundbreaking novel concepts in rare cancers. The Concept Award is not int
ended to support an incremental progression of an already established rese
arch project\; instead\, it allows PIs the opportunity to pursue serendipi
tous observations. Preliminary data are not required. This award mechanism
supports high-risk studies that have the potential to reveal entirely new
avenues for investigation. Applications must describe how the new idea wi
ll enhance the existing knowledge of rare cancers or develop an innovative
and novel course of investigation. Research completed through a Concept A
ward may generate sufficient preliminary data to enable the PI to prepare
an application for future research.Applications must address at least one
of the FY2025 focus areas listed in this document.\n	The Idea Development
Award promotes new ideas that are still in the early stages of development
and have the potential to yield impactful data and new avenues of investi
gation. This award supports research supported by preliminary data that co
uld lead to critical discoveries or major advancements that will accelerat
e progress toward eradicating rare cancers. Applications must address at l
east one of the FY2025 focus areas listed in this document.\n	The Resource
and Community Development Award supports the development of clinical or p
reclinical data sets and research resources that advance the field of rare
cancers research and ultimately improve outcomes for individuals with rar
e cancers. Major gaps in patient care of rare cancers include lack of comm
unication and dissemination strategies for rare cancers research and clini
cal findings within communities\; lack of therapeutics and mechanistic stu
dies to inform treatment development\; lack of research and clinical resou
 rces\, including patient tissues\, cell\, and tumor models\; and lack of i
nfrastructure for sharing data and other resources. Applications must addr
ess the Research Platform Development focus area: Develop platforms (such
as tumor tissue repositories with clinical annotation\, centralized databa
nks\, patient registries with common data structure\, research models\,
“Omics” databases and longitudinal studies of natural history and trea
tment response) for type(s) or sub-type(s) of rare cancers to allow sharin
 g of data\, bio-specimens and resources.\n\n\nFunding:      \nConcept
Award: $140\,000\nIdea Development Award: $490\,000\nResource and Communi
 ty Development Award: $1\,200\,000\n\nDuration:     \nConcept Award: 2
years\nIdea Development Award: 3 years\nResource and Community Developmen
t Award: 4 years\n\nEligibility: Applicants from international organizatio
ns or institutions are eligible to apply\, and there are no citizenship re
strictions.\n\nHow to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted through the eB
RAP platform. They should contain contact information\, a letter of intent
\, and a list of collaborators and key personnel as suggested on the platf
orm. Full applications will be made via a Grants.gov workspace. Applicatio
n packages can be downloaded from Grants.gov at any time.\n\nPre-Applicati
 on Deadline: \n01 July 2025\, 5:00 p.m. Eastern time\n22 July 2025\, 5:00
p.m. Eastern time for the Concept Award\n
