DESCRIPTION:Prof. Ileana Jelescu\, CHUV/UNIL\n<< Registration below >>\n\n
Abstract: Can diffusion MRI combined with biophysical modeling serve as a
n in vivo non-invasive microscope of the human brain? In this talk we will
go through latest developments in white and gray matter modeling\, as wel
l as their applications and added value to the characterization of a varie
ty of neuropsychiatric disorders. Lastly\, we will present our latest work
in using the apparent diffusion coefficient as a functional MRI contras
t independent of neurovascular coupling to map neural activity in the wh
ite matter.\n\nBio: Ileana Jelescu is an Assistant Professor in the Facul
ty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne\, and in the Radi
ology Department of the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV)\, where she le
ads the Microstructure Mapping Lab. She is a physicist with expertise in
 MRI microscopy\, ultra-high field MRI\, biophysical modeling\, and tissue
microstructure. She holds an Eccellenza Professorial Fellowship to dev
elop in vivo brain microstructure quantification\, as well as an ERC Start
ing Grant to develop novel functional MRI contrasts exploiting microstruct
ure fluctuations during neuronal activity. Her training includes master's
degrees from Ecole Polytechnique (France) and McGill University (Canada)\,
a PhD from Université Paris-Saclay (France)\, a postdoc at New York Univ
ersity (USA) and a staff scientist position at CIBM\, EPFL.\n\nThe seminar
is followed by an aperitif. \n\nRegistration appreciated\nLook at our ot
