 \n\nThe House of Memory is an archive\, an exhibition and conference space
  in Milan. It is the seat of five cultural associations whose aim is to pr
 eserve the memory of the conquest of freedom and democracy in Italy: the N
 ational Association of Former Deportees (ANED)\, the National Association 
 of Italian Partisans (ANPI)\, the National Association of Terrorism's Vict
 ims (AIVITER)\, the Association Piazza Fontana 12 December 1969 and the Na
 tional Institute of Studies on the Italian Resistance Movement (INSMLI).\n
 \nThis lecture is part of the School Lecture Series\n\nCOMMUNITY VOL.1 \nS
 even exemplary projects and case studies\n\nCommunity is an ambivalent con
 cept. It involves both gathering through shared customs and exclusion. Som
 e claim that inclusive communities do not exist. Recent history shows peop
 le more often unite through exclusion than inclusion. However\, communitie
 s are not sealed. Philosopher Roberto Esposito explains that community 'is
  not a property or territory to defend but a void\, a debt\, and a gift to
  others\, reminding us of our otherness.\n\nThis lecture series explores t
 he topic of community through architecture. How does architecture explore\
 , define\, or enable communities? Can architects collaborate directly with
  communities\, bypassing institutional entities? How can design convey a c
 ollective experience? Seven emerging and established architectural figures
  respond to these questions through their work\, which spans film\, exhibi
