DESCRIPTION:Prof. Ya Cheng\, East China Normal University\nAbstract\nWe be
 gin with the physics and technology of fabrication of industrial scale mic
 ro chemical reactors of ~100 mL level internal volumes which now have been
  widely used in pharmaceutical companies in China. Also\, we show the fabr
 ication of high speed electro-optic modulators and large scale photonic ne
 ural networks on thin film lithium niobate substrate both of which are of 
 ultra-high tuning speed and efficiency\, together with the high power erb
 ium-doped waveguide amplifiers. Femtosecond laser lithography is now prov
 iding innovative products that exist only in dreams before and thus is rad
 ically changing the landscapes in industries such as fine chemicals\, medi
 cine\, and photonic integrated circuits.\n\nBio\nYa Cheng is now a Profess
 or of East China Normal University. He received his B. S.from Fudan Univer
 sity in 1993 and PhD from Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics\
 , Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1998. He is the founder of the CHENG YA C
 hips Lab which focuses on the development of advanced manufacturing techno
 logies for chemical and photonic chips. He published more than 200 peer re
 viewed papers and given more than 150 invited talks at international confe
 rences. He holds 8 US patents and more than 30 Chinese patents. He is an O
 ptica Fellow and a Fellow of Institute of Physics\, UK.
