DESCRIPTION:Dr. Mohamed Abobeih\nQuantum technologies are moving from pro
mise to prototypes that can compute\, simulate\, sense\, and communicate i
n new ways. In this talk\, I’ll give a tour of two optically interfaced
quantum platforms that bring these ideas within reach. First\, I'll discus
 s systems based on the nitrogen-vacancy center in diamond\, a solid-state
platform within which we detect and control tens of individual nuclear spi
ns for nanoscale quantum sensing\, simulation\, and computation. Second\,
I'll discuss assembled arrays of neutral atoms in optical tweezers that en
able large\, programmable processors. I’ll introduce a novel architectur
e that enables continuous operation of more than 3\,000 coherent qubits an
d explain why this matters for quantum error correction and scaling. I’l
l close with opportunities and open questions.
