DESCRIPTION:Les Rencontres de l'EDAR is the annual meeting of the Doctoral
program in Architecture and Sciences of the City\, aimed at gathering the
entire EDAR community.\n\nThe 9th edition\, organized in collaboration wi
th the Institute of Architecture\, is entitled Original Knowledge and fo
cuses on the ways in which EDAR research meets the criterion of producing
original scientific knowledge.\n\nThe primary function of scientific resea
rch within academic institution is to systematically increase current know
ledge. Originality is an essential aptitude of the good scholar\, who is a
ble to identify new subjects of investigation\, develop innovative forms o
 f inquiry\, interweave different disciplines\, and disseminate her/his fin
dings through wider channels. More schematically\, originality can be base
d\, on the one hand\, on methodology (state of the art\, nature of the dat
a\, survey tools\, interdisciplinarity\, etc.)\, and on the other hand on
results and/or their operational horizon.\n\nOriginality will be addressed
in the context of cumulative knowledge\, of innovation\, or of approaches
that update old technical knowledge\; moreover\, according to EDAR discip
lines\, it will be framed within the relationship between design and resea
rch . The "possibility of originality" will be measured in light of the ne
w challenges and potential of digitalisation.  The socialisation of origi
nal knowledge will be questioned too.\n\nSCHEDULE\n\n13 May 2025\n\n8:30
