 t Festo AG & Co. KG)\nThe Bionic Learning Network is a cooperation between
  Festo and universities\, institutes and development companies. This initi
 ative sets out to devise new types of technology platforms and series prod
 ucts through the application of bionics\, i.e. the transfer of biological 
 principles to engineering. Automated movements can be made more energy-eff
 icient and productive with the help of bionics\; this opens up entirely ne
 w approaches for industrial practice.\n\nElias Knubben\, born in 1975\, fi
 nished his apprenticeship in metal construction with the artist Prof. Eric
 h Hauser in Rottweil in 1999\, studied industrial design in Stuttgart at t
 he Academy of Art and got his diploma in 2004.\n\nIn 2005 he started to wo
 rk as a designer in the department Corporate Bionic Projects of the Festo 
 AG & Co.KG. Since May 2012 he is the head of that department. Beside this 
 he works on his dissertation at the Institute for Lightweight Structures a
 nd Conceptual Design (ILEK) at the University of Stuttgart under Prof. Wer
 ner Sobek. His key activities are the conceptual design and the project ma
 nagement of bionic projects.
