DESCRIPTION:Giovanni De Micheli Drazen Dujic Darong Huang Dr. Binod Koiral
a Xavier OUVRARD\nWe will explore holistic approaches to sustainable compu
ting\, from renewable energy integration and advanced cooling in data cent
ers to hardware efficiency with custom accelerators\, energy storage solut
ions\, heat reuse\, and the broader vision of sustainable AI.\n\nAs AI dem
and continues to rapidly increase\, its growing energy demand calls for ur
gent and holistic solutions to be sustainable. During this event\, the tal
ks will address sustainable computing across multiple layers\, from renewa
ble energy integration and advance cooling technologies in data centers to
energy-efficient hardware design and custom accelerators.\nFeatured talks
include pioneering initiatives such as EPFL’s HeatingBits and EMPA’s
HEATWISE project\, which demonstrate how data centers and edge computing f
acilities can smartly be integrated to be more sustainable by enhancing he
at reuse and possibly reducing drastically carbon emissions\, through diff
erent means such as battery storage systems and advanced heat reuse and st
orage.\n\nWe will also high the role of AI itself in optimizing its own fo
otprint. Beyond technological breakthroughs\, we aim to promote sustainabi
lity as a fundamental design principle for future computing systems. Toget
her\, these contributions define a roadmap toward AI that is not only powe
rful and intelligent but also energy-responsible and sustainable by design
