 lli\, moderated by Nicola Braghieri\n\nAn Education in the Real is an ex
 hibition devoted to the pedagogical legacy of Arduino Cantafora\, Milan
 ese painter and writer and Professor of Architectural Drawing at École p
 olytechnique fédérale de Lausanne. It presents hundreds of painted woode
 n panels produced by students between 1992 and 1996\, depicting urban faç
 ades in Geneva and Lausanne at 1:5 scale\, alongside rigorous exercises su
 ch as steam locomotives\, enlarged beetles and anatomically precise skelet
 ons. The exhibition affirms Cantàfora’s belief in analogue representati
 on as foundational architectural knowledge and is introduced by a public d
 iscussion between Cantàfora and Luca Ortelli.\n\nArduino Cantàfora is a
  painter and writer\, born in Milan and trained as an architect. He has de
 veloped a major pictorial work focused on architecture and the city. A pro
 fessor at EPFL from 1989 to 2011\, he headed the Chair of Visual Expressio
 n\, leaving a lasting mark on the teaching of art history and architectura
 l drawing at the school.\n\nLuca Ortelli is an architect. A professor at E
 PFL from 1996 to 2011\, he taught architectural design and theory\, headed
  the Architecture Section and Institute\, developed a critical and editori
 al activity\, and conducted an independent professional practice\, affirmi
 ng an intellectual and disciplinary conception of architecture.\n\n
