DESCRIPTION:Prof. Dr.-Ing. Weihan Li\nAbstract: In this talk\, I will shar
e insights from the Center for Ageing\, Reliability\, and Lifetime Predict
ion of Electrochemical and Power Electronic Systems (CARL) at RWTH Aachen
University\, Germany\, with a focus on Germany's approach to the digitaliz
ation of battery technology. By integrating physics-based models with mach
ine learning\, our research is advancing intelligent\, data-driven strateg
ies for battery production\, testing\, and real-world applications. This t
alk will offer a unique perspective on how digitalization is shaping the f
uture of energy storage systems\, with an emphasis on reliability\, perfor
mance\, and sustainability.\n\nBiography: Weihan Li is a Junior Professor
of Artificial Intelligence and Digitalization for Batteries at RWTH Aachen
University\, where he co-leads the Center for Ageing\, Reliability\, and
Lifetime Prediction of Electrochemical and Power Electronic Systems (CARL)
and is a member of the RWTH AI Center. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical
Engineering and Information Technology summa cum laude from RWTH Aachen Un
iversity in 2021\, following an M.Sc. in Automotive Engineering and Transp
ort in 2017.\nLi’s research focuses on leveraging artificial intelligenc
e and physics-based approaches to advance the digitalization of battery te
chnology. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles\, holds n
umerous patents\, and has received competitive grant funding from Horizon
Europe\, BMFTR\, BMWE\, BMV\, and industry partners. Li has received numer
ous prestigious honors\, including designation as a Clarivate Highly Cited
Researcher (2024–2025)\, the BMFTR BattFutur Starting Grant (€2M+)\,
the German Thesis Award (Körber Foundation)\, the Reichart Prize\, the vg
be Innovation Prize\, the Battery Young Research Award\, the Umbrella Awar
d\, and the RWTH Innovation Award.\n
