DESCRIPTION:Schmidt Science Fellows is an initiative of Schmidt Sciences\,
  delivered in partnership with the Rhodes Trust. It is designed to support
  pioneering young scientists develop the skills and perspectives needed to
  accelerate discovery\, advance interdisciplinary solutions to the world
 ’s most pressing problems\, and become future leaders in science and soc
 iety.\n\nThe Fellows:\n\n	Receive a personal stipend of $ 110\,000/year fo
 r up to two years of postdoctoral study in a different area from their PhD
 \, at any approved institution worldwide. Selected Fellows will work toget
 her with the Schmidt Science Academic Council to determine the optimal hos
 t laboratory for their research placement (on the basis of three potential
  labs chosen by the fellow at full application stage).\n	Build a global ne
 twork through the Science Leadership Program\, a bespoke professional deve
 lopment curriculum delivered across three week-long residential convenings
  and a rich set of virtual offerings.\n	Benefit from personalized mentorin
 g delivered by experienced international interdisciplinary science leaders
  to develop as scientific and societal thought leaders.\n\nWho are they lo
 oking for?\n\n\n	Curious and creative scientists who are interested in bro
 adening their horizons by pivoting away from their PhD research area and p
 ursuing a challenging and rewarding period of study in an alternative disc
 ipline with world-leading scientists. Proposed pivots must be to the natur
 al sciences (Astronomy\, Biology\, Chemistry\, Physics\, and Earth Science
 s)\, Engineering\, Mathematics\, or Computing or any sub-disciplines of th
 ese subjects.\n	Academically excellent\, risk-positive\, early-career rese
 archers who can demonstrate a commitment to ambitious\, high-impact scienc
 e.\n	Future leaders with the potential and character to lead teams and unl
 ock transformative discoveries in the future.\n	Talented individuals from 
 a wide range of scientific disciplines to increase the potential for inter
 disciplinary collaboration.\n\nTo be eligible\, candidates must be:\n\n\n	
 Studying for a PhD in natural sciences (Astronomy\, Biology\, Chemistry\, 
 Earth Sciences and Physics)\, Engineering\, Mathematics\, or Computing.\n	
 Expected to complete all requirements for the conferral of their PhD betwe
 en 01 May 2026 and 30 June 2027.\n	Able to start their Fellowship in July 
 2027 or October 2027\n\n\nHOW TO APPLY\n\nFull instructions can be found i

 ur application and your proposed pivot. The deadline to receive their supp

  invited to nominate 7 candidates\, who will be selected by the EPFL Resea
 rch Awards Commission. The Reserach Awards commission will judge applicant
 s against the criteria set by Schmidt Sciences:\n\n\n	Intellect: a clear r
 ecord of academic achievement of the highest quality and a high degree of 
 intellectual curiosity combined with energy and creativity\,\n	Programmati
 c fit: interest in pursuing postdoctoral research in a different field fro
 m the applicant’s PhD discipline\, a belief that interdisciplinary scien
 ce is important\, and a history of effective collaboration with diverse te
 am members\,\n	Leadership: demonstrable potential for science leadership a
 nd a desire to use one’s personal talents and science to make a positive
  difference in society and the world.\n\n\nDEADLINES\n\n\n	Internal submis
