CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Accelerated Adaptation explores pathways to speed up the adapt
ation of wild species in order to prevent biodiversity loss and safeguard
natural ecosystems.\nARIA supports the development of tools\, protocols\,
and methodologies to help wild species adapt more rapidly to environmental
pressures\, with the goal of strengthening ecosystem resilience. This sol
icitation funds Phase 1 of the program: development of protocols\, tools\,
and methodologies to accelerate adaptation.\n\nARIA provides a live teami
ng tool here and organizes a webinar for questions and clarifications on 2
4 February 2026 (12:30 GMT) - register here\n\nARIA is seeking to fund tea
 ms across the following program areas:\n \n\n	TA1 System-focused Teams: D
emonstrate accelerated adaptation\, against a benchmark\, in specific syst
ems. Applications could focus on strategically chosen vulnerable species\,
such as trees\, which can support hundreds of other species\, and/or crit
ical functional groups such as pollinators or soil nutrient cycles that un
derpin ecosystem services.\n\n \n\n\n	TA3 Modelling: Increase our current
predictive capacity with respect to modelling ecosystem resilience\, inte
gration of genetic\, population and ecosystem‑level data\, and understan
ding the impacts of potential interventions.\n\n \n\n\n	TA4 Data & analyt
ics: Make results comparable across teams\, trusted and legible including
through delivering training\, and developing shared protocols\, and data v
isualization mechanisms. Ensure that claims made by system-focused teams a
 re independently verified.\n\n \n\n\n	TA5 Ethics + social responsibility:
Recognizing there is a diverse set of ethical considerations in the funde
d areas\, we will not be prescriptive in what can be funded in this TA. Ac
tivity could include co-developing ESR tools\, frameworks and guidance\; d
elivering training to project teams\; producing evidence that could inform
future governance models/regulatory pathways.\n\n\nEach application shoul
d focus on a single TA. Applicants may submit multiple applications\, prov
ided each addresses a different TA.\n\nDuration: The duration of the progr
am is four years\, two years for Phase 1 funded here.\n\nFunding: Funding
levels vary by Technical Area (please refer to the call document).\n\nElig
ibility: \n\n\n	Applications from across the R&D ecosystem\, including ind
 ividuals\, universities\, research institutions\, small\, medium and large
companies\, charities and public sector research organisations are welcom
ed.\n	Many applicants may decide to apply as a consortium consisting of tw
o or more organisations that are proposing a cohesive proposal to work col
laboratively.\n	Overseas applicants are advised that ARIA's primary focus
will be on funding those who are based in the UK. However\, funding will b
e available to applicants outside the UK if ARIA believes the proposed pro
ject can boost the net impact of a programme in the UK (examples of benefi
t listed here\, p.17)\n\n\nHow to Apply:\n\n\n	Applications must be submit
 ted on ARIA’s grant platform\, via the applicant’s account. You’ll f
ind a walkthrough of the platform here.\n\n\nDeadline:\n\n\n	Concept paper
 : 06 March 2026 (14:00 GMT)\n	Full proposal: 01 May 2026 (14:00 BST)\n\n\n
Further information:\n\n\n	More information (call for proposal\, applicant
guidance about the program is available here\n	ARIA FAQ : Refer to this
page here\n	Application portal can be found here\n	For any other questions
\, please contact the Research Office.\n
