overy for Frontotemporal Degeneration| Research Funding

CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim:  There are currently no FDA approved disease-modifying t
reatments available for frontotemporal dementia (FTD)\, and symptomatic tr
eatments only provide limited benefit for patients. Recent scientific adva
nces have provided an increased understanding of pathogenic mechanisms und
erlying FTD and are driving the development of potential disease-modifying
therapies. The Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) and The Ass
ociation for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) seek to accelerate this pr
ogress by supporting innovative small molecule and biologic (antibodies\,
oligonucleotides\, peptides\, gene therapy etc.) drug development programs
for FTD through this request for proposals (RFP).\n\nThe funding prioriti
es for this RFP are:\n\n	Lead optimization of novel disease-modifying comp
ounds\, including medicinal chemistry refinement and in vitro ADME.\n	In v
ivo testing of novel lead compounds\, biologics\, vaccines\, or repurposed
drug candidates in relevant animal models for pharmacokinetics\, dose-ran
ge finding\, target engagement\, in vivo efficacy\, and/or preliminary rod
ent tolerability studies.\n\n\nFunding:       up to $300\,000 based o
n stage and scope of research\n\nDuration:      1 year\, with potentia
l for follow-up funding\n\nEligibility: Funding is open to researchers and
clinicians worldwide at academic medical centers and universities or nonp
rofits. Industry partnerships are encouraged.\n\nHow to Apply: Application
s are reviewed in a two-step process: Letters of Intent (LOI) are the firs
t step\, and are submitted through the ADDF Funding Portal. ADDF’s scien
ce team will evaluate LOIs to determine whether the proposed project is co
nsistent with the ADDF's mission and funding priorities. LOI decisions wil
l be sent within three weeks of submission. Step 2 is an invited full prop
osal\, which should include a detailed project narrative\, budget and just
ification\, and biographical information.  When formulating the budget\,
note that the following costs are not covered: Indirect costs/Overhead\,
Publication costs\, Equipment\, and Travel. See the full Application Instr
uctions for more details.\n\nDeadlines:    11 May 2026 (letter of inten
 t)\n                        20 July 2026 (full prop
 osal\, by invitation)\n\nFurther information\n\n\n	More information about
the program is available here\n	Detailed application instructions are here
\n	The application portal can be found here\n	For any other questions\, pl
 ease contact the Research Office\n\n\n
