DESCRIPTION:Prof Shy Shoham\nAbstract: In this talk\, I will highlight rec
ent advances in neurophotonics and neuro-acoustic techniques that achieve
highly precise manipulation and imaging of neural activity at different sp
atial scales: from single neurons to an entire brain. I will first briefly
demonstrate how we use this strategy towards the dissection of computatio
ns underlying olfactory perception and the underlying circuit computations
. Next\, I will discuss the results of recent multi-scale imaging and comp
utational studies that together allow us to (roughly) deconstruct how netw
ork interactions mediate the responses to transcranial ultrasound stimulat
ion (TUS)\, a powerful new neuromodulation tool.\n\n\nShy Shoham is a Prof
essor of Neuroscience and of Ophthalmology at NYU Grossman School of Medic
ine\, and co-director of the Tech4Health institute. His lab develops acou
stic\, photonic and computational tools for bidirectional neural interfaci
ng.  He holds a Physics BSc (Tel-Aviv University)\, a PhD in Bioengineeri
ng (University of Utah) and was a Lewis-Thomas postdoctoral fellow at Prin
ceton University. He is a Fellow of SPIE\, serves on the editorial boards
of Journal of Neural Engineering and of Neurophotonics and has co-edited t
 he Handbook of Neurophotonics.\n
