DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20260430
DTSTAMP:20260406T121248Z
UID:211c9236c4d66ca4baefe097bd8d3aa821afd4aa72a0b89b1191fba6
CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim: Schmidt Sciences seeks to fund research that can catalyze
hardware fundamentally different from today’s CPU–GPU paradigm\, and
the training/inference methods co-designed to operate under the constraint
s imposed by such hardware: low numerical precision\, device noise\, drift
\, non-idealities etc. They are looking for proposals grounded in the crea
tion of hardware that will solve specific\, well-defined technological pro
blems where conventional computers underperform. This request is open to u
niversities and non-profits globally.\n\nThis RFP is for you if:\n\n	You a
re building or designing compute hardware that is NOT based on conventiona
l CPUs or GPUs.\n	You have a real-world task in mind where your hardware c
 ould eventually outperform GPUs.\n\nFunding & Duration:   Track 1 - Up t
 o $150K for 6-12 months\n
           Track 2 - Up to $750K for 12-18 months\n\nEligibility: Schm
idt sciences invites individual researchers\, research teams\, research in
 stitutions\, and multi-institution collaborations across universities\, na
 tional laboratories\, institutes\, and non-profit research organizations.
They are open globally and encourage collaborations across geographic boun
daries. However\, the recipient of funding must hold a 501(c)(3) designati
on or equivalent.\n\nHow to Apply: Requests for proposals can be submitted
via the Application Portal. You will be asked to provide Background infor
 mation\, Team CVs\, a Project abstract\, a statement on Bigger ambition\,
as well as a Project narrative and Budget. Budgets should include overhead
of 11.1% of indirect costs (or 10% of the total budget).\n\nDeadline:
     30 April 2026 (11:59 AoE)\n\nFurther information\n\n\n	More informa
tion about the program is available here\n	An FAQ document is provided her
