DESCRIPTION:Dr. Catherine Marselli Pasquier\n\nhas held several positions
in project management and training\, both in corporate and academic enviro
nments. A graduate of EPFL\, she holds a PhD in Science from the Universit
y of Neuchâtel as well as an MBA from the School of Management in Neuchâ
tel. For several years\, she has focused on social cognitive neuroscience
and behavioral economics\, integrating recent discoveries about brain func
tioning into her courses and managerial practice. She also delivers semina
rs and workshops at EPFL and in other professional contexts\, offering new
insights into key topics such as difficult communication\, stress managem
 ent\, cognitive performance\, motivation\, and decision-making — while e
mphasizing practical and directly applicable tools\nThe workshop will be h
 eld during 2 half days (28.04 & 11.06) from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm\n\nDescript
ion and objectives\nRecent advances in applied neuroscience open new persp
ectives for strengthening our communication and collaboration skills. By u
nderstanding a few key principles about how the brain works\, we can trans
form our professional interactions and make them more fluid and effective.
During this workshop\, we will explore the brain mechanisms involved in i
nterpersonal exchanges. Based on these foundations\, we will address commu
nication challenges in an innovative way\, such as convincing with impact\
, getting ideas across\, and managing conflict. This deeper understanding
of brain processes will provide practical tools to navigate complex intera
ctions with greater ease.\n\nJoin us for this “Brain-Wise” seminar !\n
\nMethod \nThe training is based on a combination of theoretical input —
illustrated by scientific research findings — concrete examples\, and i
nteractive exchanges through practical exercises. At the end of the first
module\, participants will leave with protocols to practice in their every
day professional situations. During the second module\, we will analyze pa
rticipants’ feedback after one month of field testing and introduce an a
dditional focus on stress\, enabling them to apply the same tools in highe
 r-stakes situations.\n\nLearning Outcomes \nBy the end of the training\, p
articipants will be able to:\n\nUnderstand what is essential for the brain
in relationships\nIdentify obstacles to listening and mutual understandin
g between two brains\nCommunicate their ideas effectively and increase the
ir chances of convincing others\nDe-escalate conflict by moving brains out
of defensive mode \nUnderstand what triggers stress in the brain and its
consequences\nExplore how the brain regains a sense of safety and trust\n
Understand how emotions are generated by the brain\nAdjust their stress le
vel and regulate their emotional state in the desired direction\n\nInforma
tion and registration\nThe FLP program – Foster. Lead. Promote. (formerl
y known as Fix the Leaky Pipeline program) is a career-building program in
the ETH Domain that gives young female scientists on the academic career
path the opportunity to reflect on their professional situations and to de
velop a strategy for finding the career path that fits them best. The prog
ram – actively supported by all ETH Institutions and the ETH Board – a
lso aims at providing opportunities to discuss alternative career tracks o
utside the academic system. The target audience of the program are female
doctoral students\, postdocs and other young scientists in the ETH Domain.
\nThe aim of the courses is to provide customised further education on car
 eer-relevant topics.\n
